The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s mission is to cure and prevent Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through research and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support. Founded in 1967, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is the only non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis: two very painful and life-long digestive diseases (collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease - IBD). These chronic diseases generally strike during the most productive years of a person’s life. Traditionally, the majority of patients are diagnosed between their 20’s and 30’s, but the average age of diagnosis is getting younger each year. There is no known cure for these intestinal diseases that can cause life-threatening complications. Approximately 1.4 million Americans are living with these diseases, 10% of those are children.
